A day later, on April 25, the Malayalam superstar had his next film in theatres. This time around, it was a ‘family drama’ directed by Tharun Moorthy, who’d made Operation Java and the National Award winning Saudi Vellakka earlier. Thudarum inching closer to the Rs 100 cr mark

With such overwhelmingly positive reports, it is, no wonder, that Thudarum had an impressive start to its box office journey, raking in Rs 28.25 crore in its all-India gross over the first 3 days, of which, around Rs 24 crore came from Kerala and Rs 3 crore from Karnataka. The rest of India collections have not been earth-shattering, especially in AP/Telangana, which also got a Telugu version release.

In the international market, Thudarum, according to trackers, has made Rs 40-41 cr, taking its world-wide first weekend total to a tad under Rs 70 crore. The film is expected to make it to the Rs 100 crore club by May 1, after which the film is likely to have a dip in collections, given that multiple big-ticket films – Retro, HIT 3, Raid 2 – are heading to theatres.

The film, which also stars Shobana, Prakash Varma, Binu Pappu, Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, Irshad Ali, Aarsha Chandini Baiju, Thomas Mathew, Krishna Prabha and Aravind, among others, features music by Jakes Bejoy, which is said to be one of the major highlights.
