Ivana's interview about her new Telugu film Single
About your entry into Telugu cinema?
After the success of Love Today, the director of Single, Karthik, called me and narrated the script. The comedy quotient was quite high, and my character had great importance. When I learned that Sree Vishnu was playing the lead and the prestigious Geetha Arts was producing the film, there was no question of saying no. It felt like the perfect entry into Tollywood for me.
About your role in Single?
I play a dancer named Harini in the film. She’s a very jovial person who can go to any length for the people she loves. What happens when such a person falls in love with a crazy guy, and another girl, played by Ketika Sharma, is also involved, is the basic storyline of the film.
How was it working on the sets of a Telugu film?
My co-star, Sree Vishnu, speaks fast. Initially, I was quite confused because I couldn’t understand what he was saying, and it was hard to react accordingly. My assistants and co-actors helped me a lot in learning the language. Speaking the local language is important, and though it was tough for me, I’m now a bit more confident.

Do you have any dream roles?
This is one of the most commonly asked questions, and frankly, I don’t like it very much. I want to be an actress who can pull off any role given to her. That’s why I keep my options open and am game for all sorts of roles. What matters most to me is that the characters I play are relatable to the audience.
Working with the likes of Allu Aravind and Geetha Arts?
Geetha Arts is a prestigious banner, and I’m super excited to make my Telugu debut with them. Allu Aravind is a hands-on producer who is deeply involved in all aspects of the production. The team took great care of me, and I’m looking forward to doing more films with Geetha Arts in the future.
About your chemistry with Sree Vishnu in Single?
Sree Vishnu is a pro at comedy, and as I mentioned earlier, it took me some time to get used to his acting style. But once I did, it was great fun. The Needhi Nadhi Oke Katha actor helped me a lot. His role in the film is fantastic, and the crazy comedy evoked by Vennela Kishore is hilarious. It’s a film that everyone can enjoy with their families.

What kind of film is Single?
Single is about a man who wants to remain single in life. The story takes a turn when he encounters two beautiful women. Ketika Sharma plays the other lead. The film is an out-and-out comedy with simple and heartwarming emotions in the second half. It’s the kind of film where you leave your brain behind and just enjoy the ride, one to watch in theaters.
Future projects?
I have a few films lined up in both Tamil and Telugu. In Tollywood, I’ve signed two projects that I’ll announce soon. For now, all eyes are on Single and how I’m received by the Telugu audience with this film.
