Actor and politician Vijay who has been balancing both politics and acting, will be joining the next schedule of his upcoming film Jana Nayagan. The actor who had travelled to Madurai on Thursday, also clarified that his itinerary is not political outreach.
Vijay joins next schedule of Jana Nayagan
It was a year back when Vijay had announced his political plunge and started his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. Ever since then, the actor has been frequently seen interacting with public and travelling for his political outreach. In the recent, Vijay was spotted at the Chennai airport, going to Madurai. However, he clarified that his plan is to join the next schedule of Jana Nayagan, his final film.

Speaking to the press at the Chennai airport, Vijay explained his itinerary that he his trip is not concerned to politics and that he will be landing in Madurai before going to Kodaikanal for the Jana Nayagan shooting. The Thuppakki actor had also asked his fans and well-wishers to stay safe and not chase his vans. Vijay also added that he will soon be revisiting Madurai for political reasons and advised his fans not to follow him right now.

Jana Nayagan is written and directed by Nerkonda Paarvai director H Vinoth, in his first collaboration with the actor. Scheduled to release for Pongal on January 9, 2026, the film stars Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Narain, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, and Teejay Arunasalam, among others. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander.
Prime Video has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of Jana Nayagan for a fancy price of Rs 121 crore. There are lot of expectations on Jana Nayagan, which is not only Vijay’s 69th film but also the actor’s farewell to Tamil cinema before he gears up for 2026 elections.
