Actor Suriya's romantic action-drama Retro is now running in theatres. One of the eagerly expected films this year, Retro opened in theatres on May 1 to mixed reviews leaving audience divided between liking and not liking it. The film is written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The box office collection on the domestic level for the film is Rs 34.84 crore as of Sunday morning.

Retro is a 2025 Tamil film starring Suriya, Pooja Hegde and others. The film is directed by Karthik Subbaraj, known for his films like Pizza , Petta and Iraivi. As of Sunday morning, the film has collected Rs 34.84 crore at the domestic box office. With the long weekend coming to an end, it looks like Retro could not thrive. From the first day's Rs 19 crore, the film's earnings eventually dropped to Rs 7 crore on Friday and another Rs 7 crore on Saturday. There has not been a subsequent growth for Retro. However, it now stands in fourth position overall for the highest grossers this year, after Good Bad Ugly, Dragon and Vidaamuyarchi.

The romantic action drama is story of the Chosen One, the one who gets adopted by a gangster and chooses to leave his violent ways to live a peaceful life with his lover. However, as fate has it, he is brought back to his roots where the prophecy has to be completed by him.

Retro OTT release

Starring Beast actor Pooja Hegde, Joju George, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Nasser, and others, the film is produced by Suriya and Jyotika under 2D Entertainment. Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical digital rights for the film.

With music by Santhosh Narayanan, Retro song Kanimaa became one of the viral hits of the year. The film also marked the first time Suriya is working with Pooja Hegde and Karthik Subbaraj.
