Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, who were last seen together in Tashan, directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, are reportedly in talks for Priyadarshan's Oppam remake. The film will be an edge-of-the-seat thriller, as per reports. Now, a new report mentioned that Akshay Kumar might play a villain opposite Saif in the film. Read below to know more!

Akshay Kumar's role in Priyadarshan's Oppam remake

According to a Bollywood Hungama report, Akshay Kumar, who was recently seen playing a lawyer in Kesari Chapter 2, will play a villain in Priyadarshan's Oppam remake. He will star opposite Saif Ali Khan in the film. “While Saif Ali Khan takes on the lead role, it’s Akshay who will be cast in a menacing avatar. The film is essentially a high-stakes battle between Akshay and Saif, and they’re going to go all out against each other. It’s going to be a gripping and intense watch,” the source revealed.

As per Hindustan Times, the film might go on floors in August 2025 and is scheduled for a 2026 release. 

Meanwhile, Oppam is a Malayalam action thriller film, starring Mohanlal in the lead. It is also directed by Priyadarshan and follows a blind lift operator, who is framed for a murder he didn't commit. 

For the unversed, Akshay and Saif already worked together in Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Yeh Dillagi (1994), Tu Chor Main Sipahi (1996), Keemat (1998), and Tashan (2008).

Akshay Kumar, who was recently seen in Karan Singh Tyagi's Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, is all set to be seen in Priyadarshan's Bhooth Bangla. Also starring Paresh Rawal, Tabu, and Rajpal Yadav, the film is inspired by mythology and black magic, the Vedas, and the Mahabharata. It will be released in theaters on April 2, 2026. Apart from this, Akshay also has Jolly LLB 3, Welcome 3, and Housefull 5 in the pipeline. 

Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan was recently seen in Netflix's Jewel Thief. The heist thriller film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat. The film stars Saif as Rehan Roy, a jewel thief, and Jaideep as Rajan Aulakh, a mafia boss.
