Dynamic Prince Prajwal Devaraj’s first-ever horror flick, Rakshasa, had him collaborating with filmmaker Lohith H of Mummy Save Me (watch now) and Devaki fame. The fil m, which released in theatres only a month ago, had opened to mixed reviews, with critics and audiences praising Prajwal’s performance, while also pointing out inconsistencies in the narrative that marred the viewing experience and failed to provide a proper horror atmosphere. That Prajwal has been working on upping his game as far as performances go is no surprise; he did, after all, recently win a state film award for best actor for his role in the Jadesha K Hampi directed Gentleman (watch now) .

Rakhasa on OTT: Prajwal's film is headed to Sun NXT

The film is now set for its OTT release, with Sun Network to bring Rakshasa to audiences on April 11, 2025 on Sun NXT. The film also stars Sonal Monteiro, KS Sridhar, Vihan Bastin, Arna Rathod, among others. In Rakshasa, Prajwal was seen as a suspended cop, who is called in by a superior officer to help with nabbing a notorious gang, a task he completes without any hitch. However, once back at the station, he inadvertently sets a demon that had been locked up in a chest for many years free, which in turn wreaks havoc and threatens the safety of the cop’s family.

Rakshasa is one of 2 films that Prajwal decided to take up with director Lohith. It was on the set of Mafia that the filmmaker broached the subject of Rakshasa, which excited Prajwal, who has been trying to bring in a massive shift in the kind of films he does, in terms of genres, role, story-telling style, etc. One of his upcoming projects is Karavalli with Gurudutt Ganiga, the teaser of which has created a lot of excitement around it.

TITLE                  

Rakshasa was Prajwal’s second release of the year. He was earlier seen in Gana, the Kannada remake of the 2021 Telugu film Play Back. Prajwal and Vedhika led the film, which was about two people, separated by decades, connecting and changing their fortunes.
