Mohanlal has hit a double jackpot with two back-to-back hits at the box office. After Empuraan’s phenomenal success, the Lucifer star followed it up with Tharun Moorthy’s Thudarum which is also emerged to be a winner at the box office, raking in over Rs 100 crore in less than a week. During a meet held to celebrate the success of Thudarum and Empuraan, the Grandmaster star spoke about Nedumudi Venu’s advice about making successful films. Read on to know what he said.

Mohanlal on the formula for success

During the Thudarum, Empuraan success meet held on Friday, Mohanlal, who has numerous blockbuster films to his name, recounted an anecdote from his earlier years. After first giving a 'disclaimer' that it be treated as a joke, Mohanlal said a generator van driver and his assistant were once having a conversation about what makes a film successful. The two listed several factors such as direction, story, music and so on. When there seems to be no end to the list, veteran actor Nedumudi Venu intervened and told them that it is not any of these, but ‘producer’s luck!’

Mohanlal then went on to say that Thudarum producer M Renjith of Rejaputhra Visual Media has got that ‘luck’, and shook hands with him.

But Mohanlal further said that one needs to have the willpower and work really hard for it patiently.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal and late actor Nedumudi Venu have starred together in several films such as Balettan, Mr.Brahmachari, His Highness Abdullah, Sadayam and Chithram.

Mohanlal is currently working on Hridayapoorvam, directed by the veteran Sathyan Anthikad. The actor-director duo have also crafted several popular films over the years. While remarking that he was a part of Sathyan Anthikad’s first film, Hridayapoorvam marks their 18th collaboration together. While promising that it is a good film, Mohanlal said that Hridayapoorvam is different from the other movies of Nadodikkattu director. Malavika Mohanan plays the female lead.
