Thug Life: Silambarasan addresses claims on him being late on sets
Actor Silambarasan entered the project of Mani Ratnam’s next directorial Thug Life midway after certain cast members left the film. But the actor is in full josh to be part of it, and has been touring along with key cast members to promote the film much ahead of the release. In one such event that took place in Kerala, Silambarasan addressed about the timing he followed to be on the sets of Mani Ratnam film.

“Many have asked me how come I go on time to Mani sir's sets and if he is strict or that if I am afraid of him. I am not afraid of him and I have been late to his sets even for a day. In fact, I will be there even before he arrives. It is because we are an actor and when we keep faith on a filmmaker and go to act, they should shoot on time and complete the film as said. Only when a director does it, other actors will follow him. Instead of coming to the sets and then thinking ways to shoot a scene, he knows what has to be done and he will never waste anyone's time, not waste a call sheet, the payment will be on time and the film comes on the said date. When a filmmaker has perfected all these for so many years, who will not turn up?” Silambarasan said.
The Vaanam star also added that unlike other directors, no matter how far the artistes are, Mani Ratnam comes to the place where they are and tell what he wants from a scene. "Had I got directors like Mani Ratnam, I would have done more films and my fans would have been happy. People think I don't go for shoots or come on time, but what else do I know apart from cinema and why would I sit at home not coming to shoots. That is a very bad idea what people have. If Mani Ratnam sir calls me for another film, I will leave everything to work for him. That is the respect I have for him,” the Maanaadu actor mentioned.
Thug Life release date:

Set to release on June 5, the film also stars Trisha, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, and others. With music by AR Rahman, the film marks the reunion of Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan after their iconic film Nayakan.
