Emraan Hashmi's action thriller, Ground Zero, hit theaters on April 25. The film received mixed responses from critics and fans and started slowly at the box office. The film was shot in different locations in Kashmir and follows the story of a BSF officer, Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, who leads an operation to eliminate terrorist Ghazi Baba after the Indian Parliament attack in 2001. Kashmir has been making headlines for the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, and in a new interview, Emraan recalled shooting for Ground Zero in the region.
Emraan Hashmi on shooting in Kashmir
Speaking to Zoom, Emraan Hashmi recalled shooting in Kashmir for Ground Zero. He said that he had a fantastic time shooting in Srinagar because, incidentally, it was his first visit there for Ground Zero. "We've all seen postcard pictures of the lake, and stepping into Srinagar felt like watching those postcards come to life. The 30-40 days we shot there, the support system we received from both the BSF and the locals made this film—and such a smooth shoot—possible," he said.
Unmissable Emraan Hashmi films, such as Why Cheat India, Tigers, Good Boy, Bad Boy, and more, are streaming on OTTplay Premium!

Emraan also added that they shot entirely on real locations in Kashmir and did very little on Mumbai sets. "Recreating Kashmir artificially brings a synthetic quality to the film, which we wanted to avoid," Emraan said.
Emraan Hashmi on his preparation for Ground Zero
For Ground Zero, Emraan underwent intense training for six to seven months, where he focused on weight training and building a commanding physique. He also ate a lot. "Thankfully, I already lead a pretty disciplined lifestyle. I may not wake up at 3 or 4 a.m. like jawans do, but I do wake up at six, which is close enough. And I believe that kind of discipline reflects on screen," Hashmi added.

Meanwhile, Ground Zero stars Emraan Hashmi as Dubey, along with Sai Tamhankar and Zoya Hussain in key roles. The cast also features Deepak Paramesh, Lalit Prabhakar, Rockey Raina, and Rahul Vohra.
