Director Lokesh Kanagaraj who is currently on a social media break, recently addressed the media about his plans for the upcoming LCU films including Kaithi 2 and Rolex standalone film. Currently, the director is working on action-drama Coolie with Rajinikanth.

Lokesh Kanagaraj on his plans for LCU films Kaithi 2 and Rolex

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, with his films like Kaithi , Master, Leo and Vikram , has attained a massive fanbase. Scores of his fans are waiting for the next instalment from the LCU films, which already includes Karthi-starrer Kaithi, Kamal Haasan’s Vikram and Vijay’s Leo.

Speaking about it, Lokesh who was recently spotted at a theatre in Chennai to catch Suriya’s film Retro, said that he will be surely joining hands with Suriya for a standalone film based on Suriya’s character Rolex. For those who don’t know, Suriya played Rolex in Vikram, and made a cameo appearance, setting the precedence that his character will serve as the primary antagonist in the LCU films. Adding on to that, Lokesh also said that his next film will be Kaithi 2, which stars Karthi in the lead role. It will be the sequel to the first instalment in the LCU series.

It is expected that the storylines of Kaithi, Leo, Vikram and Rolex will be tied together with one final film which will serve as the climax for the franchise.

What is Lokesh Kanagaraj now working on?

Lokesh took a break from LCU films and is working with Rajinikanth in Coolie. The film is set to release on August 14, recreating the actor’s Jailer release window for Independence Day. Coolie also stars actors Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj and others. Aamir Khan is expected to make a cameo appearance in the film, while Pooja Hegde has been confirmed to shake her leg for a song. Produced by Sun Pictures, Coolie has music by Anirudh Ravichander.
